Wheal Friendship
Wheal Friendship is remembered less for its copper, which most Devon mines also produced, than for the young manager it made: John Taylor left Mary Tavy to become one of the most sought-after mining engineers in Britain, called in wherever a mine's owners needed the water-power and drainage expertise he first developed here.

Wheal Grenville
Wheal Grenville spent its first six years losing money badly enough to be sold off — and then went on to become one of the Camborne district's most consistently profitable tin mines for the next four decades, a turnaround owed entirely to going deeper and finding the Great Flat Lode's tin beneath the copper that had first disappointed everyone.
