Coalbrookdale Colliery	Coal was worked at Coalbrookdale on a substantial scale from the 16th century; the Coalbrookdale Company itself was formed in 1709 when Abraham Darby I took the lease of the Coalbrookdale furnace and its supporting coal and ironstone workings.–No reliable single closure date has yet been located for the colliery's coal workings specifically, though the wider Coalbrookdale Coalfield had ceased production well before the last Shropshire pit, Granville, closed in 1979. Halesfield Pit	1930s (as an ironstone and coal mine)–Owned by the Madeley Wood Co from 1900-1915 and its successor Madeley Wood Co Ltd from 1918-1938; its shafts were repurposed for ventilating the neighbouring Kemberton pit in the late 1930s rather than continuing as an independent producer. Kemberton Colliery	Sunk in 1864 by the Madeley Wood Company.–Closed in 1967 or 1968, by which point it was one of the last handful of working Shropshire collieries.	Coal
