Mines in Merseyside
Merseyside's Sutton Manor Colliery, near St Helens, worked coal from 1906 to 1991; its old spoil tip has since been transformed by the Forestry Commission into community woodland and now carries Dream, a 20-metre sculpture of a young girl's head created with the direct involvement of former Sutton Manor miners.
