Amalgamated Anthracite Collieries Ltd
Formed in 1923 by Sir Alfred Mond to consolidate a group of South Wales anthracite collieries, absorbing further companies including the Vale of Neath Colliery Co. by 1928-29 and eventually controlling around 75-80% of UK anthracite production — the combine that consolidated most of the west Wales anthracite industry between the wars, taking over pits such as Cefn Coed as sinking finished and holding them until nationalisation. Renamed Amalgamated Anthracite Holdings Ltd in 1954 and A.A.H. Ltd in 1970.
