Two miners, Abraham Pryde and Peter Frame, were killed by a fall of stone at the Shotts Iron Company's Loanhead Colliery on 11 October 1895.

In the early afternoon of 11 October 1895, in the seventh hour of the shift, a fall of stone at Loanhead Colliery, then working both coal and ironstone for the Shotts Iron Company, killed two miners, Abraham Pryde, 21, and Peter Frame, 48.
