On 15 August 1907 two datallers were run down by a runaway train of tubs at Annesley Colliery, in Nottinghamshire, as they walked to their work; both died the next day.

Cause
A train of full tubs that had been detached from an endless rope ran away and into a group of men going to their work.
What happened
Thomas Buck, aged 20, and John Cooper, aged 59, both datallers, were among several men proceeding to their work underground in the Top Hard coal when a runaway train of full tubs, detached from the endless rope, ran into them. Both men died the following day.
