Shotts Iron Company
Founded in 1801 by Robert and Hugh Baird and partners on a mineral lease at Shotts; reconstituted in 1824 as the Shotts Iron Joint Stock Company, it grew into a major Lanarkshire ironworks famous for decorative castings before closing in 1951.
