Clifford Amalgamated Mines

Clifford Amalgamated Mines was formed in 1857 by merging the neighbouring Consolidated Mines and United Mines in Gwennap, Cornwall — once hugely profitable copper setts — as falling ore grades and foreign competition forced consolidation; the combined operation struggled on unprofitably until 1870.
