One of the many Dowlais Iron Company levels feeding the works with coal and iron ore, working two of the wider Dowlais Collieries complex's shared seams before its 1924 closure.

History

Morgan's Colliery was one of the many levels owned by the Dowlais Iron Company to feed its works with both coal and iron ore. It was abandoned in May 1924, along with the rest of the wider Dowlais Collieries complex of which it formed part. Within that shared working, Morgan's was among the pits — alongside Brewhouse, Cwmbargoed, the Fochriw levels, Longwork, the Penydarren pits, Rhas Las and Wagstaff — that worked the Big or Six-Feet seam, abandoned in June 1914. It was also among the pits, including Brewhouse, Fochriw No.1, Longwork, Meredith's, the Penydarren pits, Rhas Las and Tommo, that worked the Upper-Four-Feet seam, abandoned in February 1893.
