On 29 November 1920 a fall of stone at Lintz Colliery, near Burnopfield in County Durham, killed three young workers outright; a fourth died of his injuries a fortnight later.

Cause
A fall of stone in the workings.
What happened
John William Carton (15, helper-up), John Graham (19, driver) and Lancelot Riddell (14, driver) were killed by a fall of stone; Graham and Riddell were buried at Tanfield. Matthew Lewins (23, putter), injured in the same fall, died on 14 December.
