Cause
Loose top roof, not drawn down beforehand, fell while timbers were being set.

The repairers had not brought down the loose top roof before setting the timbers beneath it.
What happened
On 1 July 1895 two repairers, James Furival, 35, and John Griffiths, 47, were ripping and repairing the main road at Bettisfield Colliery, Bagillt. As they set a pair of timbers, a part of the top roof that they had earlier failed to draw down fell on them suddenly and killed them.
