Cause

A fall of coal on the men as they were holing (undercutting) the seam.

What happened

On 21 June 1862 Daniel Evans and David Davies were holing coal in the Nine Feet seam at Aberaman Colliery when the coal fell and killed them both. Evans was a native of Pencader, near Llandysul, in Carmarthenshire.
