On 27 July 1891 two men were killed by a fall of stone at Dudley Colliery, at Cramlington in Northumberland, after timber had been knocked out.

Cause
Timber had been knocked out when a set got off the way, and while the men were getting the tubs back on, the stone fell.
What happened
William Mason, aged 45, a deputy, and John Watson, aged 38, a rolleywayman, were killed by the fall; they could not set temporary timber until the tubs were cleared, though the roof had been thought good enough to stand.
