The mining history in this record
Tudor Williams was born on 23 December 1898 at Cwarter Bach, at the head of the Amman Valley, and learned his rugby with Cwmllynfell RFC before going on to Swansea. A scrum-half, he won his only Wales cap in the 1921 Five Nations, partnering his Swansea clubmate Billy Bowen at half-back in a win over France at Cardiff Arms Park.
He worked as an assistant electrician at Blaencaegurwen Colliery, a drift mine of three slants near Brynamman, and in 1922, while working underground there, he came into contact with a live wire and was electrocuted. He was 23. His death is dated 24 July 1922 in one account and 27 August 1922 in another.
