Rother Vale Colliery Company
A South Yorkshire colliery company, owner of the Treeton, Orgreave and Fence pits, which leased the coal under the Thurcroft estates in 1902, sank Thurcroft Colliery from 1909 and built the village around it from 1913. The company passed to the National Coal Board at nationalisation in 1947.
