Harton Coal Company

The German-owned company that operated Westoe Colliery from its 1909 sinking through to the 1947 nationalisation of the coal industry, also building the Harton Electric Railway that connected Westoe to St Hilda's Colliery and the company's own staiths on the Tyne.
