Hardwick Colliery Company

The Derbyshire company, earlier the Wingerworth and Hardwick Colliery Company, that sank Williamthorpe Colliery at Heath Common between 1901 and 1905 under a lease from Mrs Hunloke requiring shafts to the Blackshale seam, and built the village of Holmewood to house its workforce. Its operations passed to the National Coal Board on 1 January 1947.
