Owners of the Penmaenmawr granite quarries, who bought Pen-yr-Orsedd in 1862 and invested heavily in it. Under William Darbishire's direct management output rose roughly sixteenfold between 1871 and 1882, and it was the Darbishire regime that installed the four Blondins in 1906.
