Open questions: Argyll and Bute
Where sources disagree, MineArchive keeps both accounts rather than picking one; where a fact could not be settled, the record says so. 3 such claims on 3 records. All regions.
Belnahua Slate Quarries
- The Old Statistical Account gives quarrying on Belnahua from 1632; Withall calls the island probably uninhabited before the Easdale company's formation in the 18th century. (disputed)
Bonawe Iron Furnace
- Historic Environment Scotland and Wikipedia give the closure date as 1876; Canmore's record separately states the furnace was finally closed down in 1874. Both figures are recorded rather than reconciled. (disputed)
Easdale Slate Quarries
- The record's own account and the scheduling text give 250 feet below tide level for the quarry flooded in 1881; easdale.org says some of the island's seven quarries extended to 300 feet below sea level. (disputed)
