Cause
A fall of roof buried the men, who were suffocated beneath it.
What happened
Ebenezer Morgan (40, a married collier) and William Prosser (36, a collier married with seven children) were among three men buried by a fall of roof and suffocated. Hundreds flocked to the pit mouth as the news spread through Pontypridd and the lower Rhondda, and the three bodies were recovered on the Saturday.
