Mines in Norfolk

Norfolk's Grime's Graves is a Neolithic flint mining complex worked over 4,000 years ago, one of only six such sites to survive in Britain and the only one open to the public — its pitted landscape so ancient and strange-looking to later Anglo-Saxon settlers that they named it for the god Grim, assuming it couldn't be of human making.
