MineArchivePembrokeshire Iron and Coal Company
The company that established iron furnaces at Kilgetty and sank the Grove pit from 1852 to feed them, opening it in 1856. Its shaft was described in 1859 as the largest in Wales; the vein it was sunk to reach proved very disappointing, and the local historian M. R. C. Price called the whole enterprise an imaginative and expensive venture that went badly wrong.
