Millom and Askam Co

The Millom and Askam Haematite Iron Company built ironworks at Millom, Cumbria, operational from 1867 and eventually running six blast furnaces; it also took over the neighbouring Ullcoats mines and, in 1914, developed Florence Mine. The company was nationalised in 1951 under the Iron and Steel Act.
