Marble and Slate Company of Netherlorn

The Marble and Slate Company of Netherlorn was established in 1745 by John Campbell, Earl of Breadalbane, and three kinsmen to organise slate production on Easdale and the neighbouring Slate Islands, driving output from around one million to some five million slates a year by 1800. It was dissolved in 1866, with its quarries sold off to separate owners.
