James Joicey & Co.
The coal-owning business of the Joicey family of County Durham, which held Beamish Colliery from the 1850s and grew into one of the largest colliery companies in the North East. Its holdings were merged into Lambton, Hetton & Joicey Collieries Ltd in the 1920s; the company's mining archive for 1843-1929 is held at Newcastle University.
