Blackcraig Lead Mines
- Historical accounts from 1904 refer to older, undated horizontal workings known as ‘old men’ in the area, pre-dating the Craigtown Mining Company's own shafts; Historic Environment Scotland notes there is no actual evidence of Roman-period mining at the site despite the Old Military Road's route following an earlier Roman road, so the age and origin of these older workings remains unconfirmed. (uncertain)
Canonbie Colliery
- Wikipedia's account of the coalfield states that Canonbie colliery was worked until 1920, while the separate mine at Archerbeck continued until 1942. (disputed)
Corsehill Quarry
- Triassic red sandstone (St Bees Sandstone) was worked at Corsehill from the 1880s until the mid-1950s; the quarry was reopened in 1981 and is operated by Onyx Contractors. (disputed)
- The quarry closed in 1946 and was reopened in 1982. (disputed)
Cove Vein Mine
- The Geological Survey memoir says the vein was first opened up by Sir James Stampfield and takes its name from its great width. (disputed)
Fauldhead Colliery
- The Durham Mining Museum names the owners as the Sanquhar and Kirkconnel Collieries Ltd and then Bairds and Dalmellington Ltd before nationalisation; the brick history gives the later private owner as Bairds and Scottish Steel Ltd from 1935. (disputed)
Glendinning (Louisa) Mine
- The mine's second working phase is dated 1888 to around 1891 in some accounts but 1888-1901 in the Scottish Cave and Mine Database; the exact end date of this phase is not firmly settled. (uncertain)
Wanlockhead
- Lead mining at Wanlockhead is generally described as having ceased altogether by the end of the 1930s; at least one source instead states mining finished in the 1950s. (disputed)
- Gold from Wanlockhead, reportedly up to 22.8 carats pure, was said to have been used in making the Scottish Crown. (uncertain)
