MineArchiveA dark green, sometimes mottled decorative rock, easily cut and polished, formed by the alteration of magnesium-rich igneous rock. In Britain it is essentially unique to the Lizard Peninsula in Cornwall, where it was worked into mantelpieces, pillars and ornaments rather than used structurally.
