The fibrous, serpentine-group form of asbestos, formed within serpentinised ultrabasic rock and valued historically for its long, flexible, heat-resistant fibres. Extremely rare in Wales, with only two documented occurrences, and now recognised as a serious respiratory hazard rather than worked for any purpose.
