A major central-Scotland colliery company operating a number of collieries in Lanarkshire and beyond before nationalisation in 1947; it developed the Glencraig estate from the mid-1890s and ran it until nationalisation, and was the defendant in the landmark 1937 House of Lords case arising from a fatal accident at Glencraig.
