Wemyss Coal Company Ltd
The Wemyss Coal Company grew out of the Fife estate's own coal workings, developed vigorously from the 1880s by the laird Randolph Wemyss, who built a private railway and tramway network to serve his pits. The company was absorbed into the National Coal Board on nationalisation in 1947.
