Walton and Cooper

Jacob Walton and John Cooper, who took a lease of the Fallowfield mines from the Blacketts in 1788 and worked out the richest of the lead. Their decision in 1845 to work the vein for the witherite and barite they had been discarding turned a failing lead mine into the world's first commercial witherite operation.
