Turner and Casson
William Turner and William Casson, slate quarrymen and entrepreneurs previously active in the Lake District, bought Diphwys Casson in 1800 along with fellow managers Thomas Wright, Hugh Jones and Thomas Assheton Smith, expanding it into the district's dominant producer through the 1820s; Casson's own name became permanently attached to the quarry's.
