Thomas Smith

Lord of the manor of Healaugh from 1738, whose claim to the lead rights under Beldi Hill's unenclosed land was disputed by Lord Pomfret in a case that ran to the House of Lords before being settled in Smith's favour in the early 1770s; built the Beldi Hill smelt mill in 1771 once vindicated.
