Pope and Pearson

The partnership of the London coal factors Richard and John Buckingham Pope with George Pearson of Pontefract, which took over the Cliffe Colliery at Crigglestone in the 1840s and sank and worked the West Riding Colliery at Altofts from 1851 until nationalisation, becoming Pope and Pearson Ltd.
