The Panmure and Dalhousie estate
The landowning family that opened the large quarries at Carmyllie and built the private mineral railway down to Elliot on the coast to carry their stone. Sources credit the work variously to Lord Panmure and to the Marquess of Dalhousie, titles held successively within the same family.
