North Stainmore Mining Company
The company that built the Augill smelt mill on Augill Beck in 1843 to treat lead ore raised from the mines higher up the valley. The local veins proved disappointing and the lead enterprise was short-lived; the mill was converted to iron roasting about 1859-60.
