Opened Werntarw Colliery near Pencoed in 1915 and sank its pits from 1920; reconstituted as the Meiros Collieries (1931) Limited, run from Exchange Buildings, Cardiff, by Rees Rees and H. G. Roberts, with Werntarw as its only mine.
