Maglona Quarries Ltd
Took over Llwyngwern quarry in 1893 and worked it to its most productive years — 2,087 tons of slab and finished mantlepieces in 1902, with 144 employed in 1900. The company ended when the quarry closed in July 1903 after Board of Trade enquiries into a fatal accident. Maglona was the name then commonly given to a supposed Roman fort at Machynlleth.
