Magdalen College, Oxford
Worked its own Headington quarry from as early as 1474, one of at least nine Oxford colleges to own quarries there by the 1550s. The college's pit later became known as the Workhouse Pit and, after Oxford City Council took it over in 1899, the Corporation Pit — the last Headington quarry still working when it finally closed in 1949.
