Ketton Portland Cement Company

Incorporated in August 1928 to build a cement works at Ketton on ground its founder Frank Walker had bought in 1921, chosen because the limestone and the clay both lay in the company’s own quarries. Production began in July 1929. It was owned by Thomas W. Ward and Co. Ltd until 1981 and then by Rio Tinto Zinc, and held the works until 1986.
