John Taylor & Sons (Lisburne Mines Co)

John Taylor (1779-1863) was one of the most influential British mining engineers and entrepreneurs of the 19th century, pioneering the mechanised 'Cornish rolls' ore crusher and extending Cornish mining methods to Wales, Cumberland and Ireland; his firm, John Taylor & Sons, acquired the Lisburne (Frongoch) mines in Wales in 1834, working them until 1878.
