James Rixon
A Wellingborough businessman who opened a brickworks beside the Midland Railway in 1870 and moved into iron ore in 1874, leasing quarry land south of Finedon and laying a metre-gauge tramway to reach it. By 1884 the ironstone was outperforming the bricks and the firm had built its own blast furnace.
