James Dunnachie
The man who made Glenboig. He took control of the fireclay business in 1865, built the rival Star Works in 1872, became managing director of the merged Glenboig Union Fireclay Company in 1882, and patented in 1891 a gas-fired kiln that cut fuel consumption by more than half and reduced firing from days to under twenty-four hours.
