MineArchiveHuntingdon Beaumont
Coal entrepreneur (c.1560-1624) of the Coleorton branch of the Beaumont family, lessee of the Willoughbys' Wollaton pits from 1601 and of the Strelley pits from 1603, who laid the Wollaton Wagonway and later built wagonways near Blyth in Northumberland. An innovator with boring rods but a poor businessman, he died imprisoned for debt.
