Hughes and Lancaster

A firm of hydraulic and general engineers founded in 1865, working from Chester and, from the early 1890s, from new works at Acrefair near Wrexham, where it made ejectors, pumps and air compressors. It bought Talargoch in 1883, a year before the mine gave up its fight against water and closed.
