Guernsey and Sark Mining Company

The company formed to work John Hunt's 1834 silver licence on Sark, capitalised at £1,000 in 200 five-pound shares with the Seigneur holding ten and Hunt thirty, which sank the Port Gorey shafts, raised a further £5,400 and a £1,000 bank loan, and had spent more than £34,000 for about £4,000 of ore by 1844; the workings closed in 1847 after the flood of 1845.
