MineArchiveGroby Granite Company
The company formed in 1865 to work the granite quarry at Groby in Leicestershire, which had been linked to the Leicester and Swannington Railway since 1832; it employed 546 people at the Leicestershire quarry in 1902 and also owned a second, quite separate Groby Granite Quarry near Blaenau Ffestiniog in Gwynedd from 1901.
