Grassmoor Colliery Company
The Barnes family's colliery company south of Chesterfield, founded on pits begun about 1846 by Alfred Barnes on land bought by his father and known locally as the Barnes collieries. It took limited liability in 1884, every subscriber but the cashier George Leach being a Barnes, and went into voluntary liquidation in 1928.
