Empire Collieries Ltd

The company that started the Empire Colliery in 1898 by reopening the Cwmgwrach Nos. 1 and 2 levels in the Vale of Neath. Tony Cooke's notes on the Welsh Coal Mines page record that the company was registered on 14 February 1899, never went to share allotment and so never legally existed, being dissolved in 1905; the undertaking was the Blindell brothers'.
