Title held by the Talbot family, landowners at Brereton near Rugeley, recorded by the Durham Mining Museum as owners of Brereton Colliery and named as the company in the 1861 explosion. Earl Talbot was working the colliery in 1834 and later succeeded to the earldom of Shrewsbury.
